According to the Philadelphia African American Leadership Forum (PAALF), when compared to white-led nonprofits, African American nonprofits are more likely to serve the most challenged groups with the least amount of resources, are smaller in terms of staff and volunteers, have fewer cash reserves and depend more on government grants — less than 33 percent have four or more months of cash reserves, which means they're spending a lot of energy just keeping the lights on.
Black nonprofits have less access to certain social networks, such as those connected to grant making — thus, they also lack access to certain types of funding. Having an app and website solely dedicated to increasing funds and making stakeholders aware of services provided in their community can sojourn the negative trends and strengthen Black business, Black nonprofits, and HBCU's ability to receive donations while making a greater impact on the community.

BOLD Awards 2020
Give Black was nominated for the Boldest Fintech Award at the BOLD Awards 2020, recognizing our outstanding contribution to social impact and community empowerment through digital fundraising. Due to COVID-19, the winners announcement was postponed until 2021. This nomination validated Give Black's mission to revolutionize how Black nonprofits raise funds and connect with donors worldwide.
